The Angelfish from the Rio Nanay in Peru are members of the genus pterophyllum scalare like the many different colour forms that you will see in your local fish shop.
However, these wild forms from Rio Nanay display much more holds a cherished place among aquarists over the years. This cichlid, known for its shoaling behavior, boasts a relatively calm demeanor compared to its kin. Its distinctive physique, tall and slender, sets it apart from typical cichlids. Originally hailing from river systems in Northern South America, today's aquarium Angelfish are predominantly descendants of generations of tank breeding. This deliberate cultivation and selective breeding have given rise to a captivating spectrum of color variations.
